Kyle Whittingham Shares His Thoughts Following Blowout Loss to Oregon

Utah head coach reflects on 35-6 loss to Ducks.
In this story:

The Utah Utes got blown out 35-6 by the Oregon Ducks yesterday in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Utah quarterback Bryson Barnes had a tough day, throwing for just 136 yards and 2 interceptions. The offense struggled mightily against a stout Oregon defense as they rushed for 99 yards as a team and the wide receivers as a whole did not have a great day. The Utes were unable to find the end zone as their only points came from two Cole Becker field goals.

Following the loss, Utah head coach Kyle Whittingham shared his thoughts: “They took it to us today, and so we've got to regroup.” Said they had a good week of practice, but couldn't get anything going today.

The Utes defense had a less-than-ideal performance generating 0 sacks or really any kind of pressure at all on Bo Nix in this contest. Nix lit them up for 248 yards passing as well as adding 3 touchdowns of his own.

This was one of the few times this season the Utes looked completely outmatched by their opponent and right from the jump things didn’t start well. Heading into the half, Utah trailed 21-3 and were never able to dig themselves out of this hole.

The Utah Utes are back in action next week playing the Arizona State Sun Devils in Utah, were they hope to get back on track with a win.
