Multiple Pac-12 Coaches Featured In Latest College Football Rumors

The Pac-12 is home to a handful of coaches that may be targeted by other programs
In this story:

The college football carousel is spinning, and naturally, the coaches that appear to be the most sought-after are the ones in the conference that will no longer exist as we know it in a couple of weeks.

There are a handful of open jobs like Michigan State, Northwestern, San Diego State, and Boise State, but it is the Texas A&M job that has drawn the most chatter. The program just decided to fire Jimbo Fisher and chose to pay him over $70 million to not coach, rather than witness another season with him on the sidelines.

Being that the Pac-12 is having such a great year with five teams currently ranked, at times having six ranked, and eight of the teams in the conference ranked at one point there are quite a few hot commodities. Here are some of the latest murmurs and rumors from Pac-12 country.

Chip Kelly Likely to be Fired

In a report on Tuesday, it was revealed that UCLA head coach Chip Kelly is expected to be fired as soon as this weekend. This job will have names like Jonathan Smith, Jedd Fisch, and even Washington offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb being discussed to take over the Big Ten-bound program.

Texas A&M Opening For Multiple Coaches

While Kyle Whittingham may be desired by one Aggies fan, it is Dan Lanning that most people are suspecting to be the top candidate for the Aggies. However, he recently shut down those rumors and said he has no interest in leaving Oregon. Kalen DeBoer was also mentioned as a candidate, but he was less convincing when asked about the openings.

Kalen DeBoer's Response to Job Openings

While Lanning took more of a dramatic "I'm never leaving" kind of approach, Washington's Kalen DeBoer was far less convincing in the eyes of some. He maintained he was focused on the task at hand, however, there may have been a subtle hint to the AD that a raise should be in order.

Deion Sanders Mentioned for Texas A&M

Colorado head coach Deion Sanders is also a splashy mention for Texas A&M as he has Texas roots and would make the program as relevant as ever. However, he released a pretty convincing statement that he's remaining in Boulder (for now). His son and quarterback Shedeur Sanders is unable to transfer again and be eligible unless he graduates here soon, which would mean he'd leave his sons in Boulder which seems unlikely. If this job were to open up next year, who knows?
