The Utah Utes need to bolster their wide receiver room for the 2024 season

There are a couple of positions that stand out as needing help for Utah in 2024, and one of them can easily be addressed in the transfer portal.

With quarterback Cam Rising returning for his seventh season of college football, the Utes quite frankly don't have the level of playmakers around him that they need. Devaughn Vele is off to the NFL, Mikey Matthews is in the portal, and there is no telling what tight end Brant Kutithe's plans are.

Even with names like Mycah Pitmann, Money Parks, and Munir McClain in the fold, there are a handful of viable portal pass catchers that the Utes would be wise to land by any means necessary to take the offense to the next level. Here are three receivers that stand out as being perfect options for this offense in the transfer portal that could help Utah not only contend in the Big 12, but beyond.

Isaiah Neyor (Texas)

Isaiah Neyor transferred to Texas prior to the 2022 season from Wyoming where he exploded in the 2021 season. He was named second-team All-Mountain West after racking up 44 catches for 878 yards and 12 touchdowns, which was top-10 in the country. The 6-foot-3 was drawing major praise during spring ball ahead of 2022, and was even viewed as being at the same level of Texas' Xavier Worthy who is a projected first rounder, but tore his ACL during a scrimmage. He fell behind Georgia transfer Adonai Mitchell who is also a projected first-rounder for Texas this season, and is in need of a fresh start. He is someone who can stretch the field, and turn 50-50 balls into 80-20 balls.

The Washington State transfer is someone that the Utes are slated to host for a visit December 13-15, and it would be a shame for Utah if they don't end up securing a commitment. Kelly was nothing but explosive in his lone season in Pullman, and would provide a big-play vertical threat for Rising. He had 61 catches for 923 yards and eight touchdowns, and would automatically assert himself as the lead receiver.

Tulane's stud freshman receiver will have plenty of programs to choose from, especially considering he is a 6-foot-5 weapon. However, having a receiver with his combination of size, route-running ability, and jump ball ability will only add another dynamic to this team. He racked up 44 catches for over 700 yards and five touchdowns, and is someone who stands out as being a viable No. 1 option. He is also slated to be a redshirt Sophomore, which means he could return the following season.
