With the 2022 Utah Football season now fully in the rear-view mirror and spring ball not too far off, it's time to reflect and review on the notable performances from this past year.

While players like Cameron Rising, Dalton Kincaid, Clark Phillips III and Cole Bishop made a lot of the big plays, there were a handful of younger players who made notable contributions and are certainly on the rise for 2023.

The following is a recap and analysis of freshman Jaylon Glover, his 2022 contributions, and what potential may lie in store.

After taking spring camp by storm last season and becoming one of the most talked about freshmen from Utah's talented 2022 class, Glover did not disappoint this past year as his name was called in some critical situations.

In his first season with the Utes, Glover finished with 360 yards and four touchdowns on 78 carries (4.6 average) in nine games played.

From this offensive production, Glover strung together notable performances such as a season-best two touchdowns against SUU, 62 yards and a touchdown against Colorado and a clutch performance against Washington State with a season-high 76 yards.

While the running back group was a bit of rollercoaster this season with the early injury of Chris Curry and some personal matters with Tavion Thomas, Glover stepped up when his number was called and got the job done.

With two starts on the season, Glover showed that he has the potential to be a lead back. Arguably his most impressive and important performance, Glover illustrated everything he is capable of against Washington State in week eight. Despite being without Tavion Thomas, Micah Bernard and Cameron Rising, Glover accepted the assignment and led the team in rushing yards in a critical road victory down the stretch.

Looking ahead to the future, Glover is not far off from unlocking his full potential. Throughout his first season, there were several situations where Glover was just a step or two away from breaking into the open field through a gap or around the edge. With a little more time, development, and experience, this young running back will blossom into a lethal back as he possesses the necessary mindset and dedication to make that happen.
