QB2 Competition a 'Dead Heat' According to Utah Coach Kyle Whittingham
Spring practice is moving along and despite some setbacks along the way, the team is meshing together well and each practice is an improvement according to Coach Whitt. However, one roster spot is still in heavy contention and for good reason as it is a rather crucial spot given past circumstances.
Fans and players alike are rejoicing at the return of Cam Rising, but with that follows an injury history that can't be ignored and if the 2023 season taught the program anything, it's that a solid plug-n-play backup is of the utmost importance.
Currently, the competition is a "dead heat" between Brandon Rose and Isaac Wilson for the QB2 role and while the statement by Coach Whittingham could very well be one of wanting both to give it their all till the end, it still leaves room for interpretation.
It is widely expected that Rose will be the backup, given his time in the program and his development. However, if Isaac is truly the better option, it'll be hard not to role with him in the event of an unfortunate turn of luck, especially with so much riding on the success of this upcoming season.
