The Wait Is Finally Over

The Bye Week That Seemed Like It Would Never End

Is it just me or did the bye week seem like it would never end?

A week without the Commodores having to play a football game hopefully allowed the team to work on discipline, fundamental or any other areas of the game that desperately needed improvement in the wake of an 0-2 start where they were beaten by #3 Georiga and embarrassed by unranked, and winless Purdue.

The task at hand now for Derek Mason and his team is an unenviable one. Hosting the 4th ranked LSU Tigers who re undefeated and who seem have found an offense in this new spread system under head coach Ed Orgeron and offensive coordinator Steve Ensminger.

Tigers quarterback Joe Burrow leads the new look Tigers offense and has put up gaudy stats through three weeks, throwing for 1,122 yards and 11 touchdowns to date.

The Tigers can still run the football, but it is their passing game that has garnered the headlines, most notably in their win two weeks ago in Austin over the Texas Longhorns.

On the other side of the football, the Tigers defense is once again loaded with talent. Their secondary is outstanding and their defensive line is full of players cabable of getting after the opposing quarterback.

If there is a possible weakness on the defense, it would be their linebackers, who are still above average, but have been compromised at times early in the season.

Even with LSU coming to town, it's sure nice to have the bye week behind us and football back on the calender this week as the Commodores look to find their first win of the season. It's an unenviable task, but that's why they play the games and why the Commodores likely spent their free time working to improve as a team.

See you Saturday.
