Coach Mox had been hinting at some transfer portal activity for the Virginia women's basketball program all week and now it's official. The Cavaliers have landed their first transfer portal commitment of the year. Paris Clark, a rising sophomore guard from Arizona, is transferring to UVA, as announced on Friday afternoon by Virginia head coach Amaka Agugua-Hamilton.

A 5'8" guard from The Bronx, New York, Clark was a highly-touted recruit coming out of high school, as she was a 2022 McDonald's All-American and the New York Gatorade Player of the Year as well as the No. 21 overall recruit in ESPN's HoopGurlz rankings for the class of 2022. Clark entered the transfer portal after her freshman season at Arizona, where she appeared in 24 games and averaged 3.8 points per game.

“I’m thrilled to officially welcome Paris into our Wahoo Family,” said Coach Mox. “She is a high-character, hard-working, talented player who wants to be a part of something special here at UVA! Her game speaks for itself, a guard who can play on both sides of the ball! A three-level scorer, defensive stopper and rebounder. I am certain she will thrive in our culture and impact our program on and off the court!”

With Paris Clark transferring to Virginia, the Cavaliers will now have four former McDonald's All-Americans on their roster for the 2023-2024 season, as Clark joins Sam Brunelle, Mir McLean, and incoming freshman Kymora Johnson, who just appeared in the McDonald's All-American Game last week. Clark has three years of eligibility remaining.
