For just the third time in program history, a UVA golfer has won the ACC Women's Golf individual title. Amanda Sambach capped a brilliant 54-hole performance on Friday at Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, shooting a 14-under 202, the lowest score ever recorded at the ACC Women's Golf Championship and the best 54-hole tournament score in UVA program history.

Sambach joins current LPGA Tour golfers Brittany Altomare (2013) and Lauren Coughlin (2016) as the only Cavaliers to ever become ACC Women's Golf Individual Champions. With a 4-under 68 on Friday, Sambach held off Duke's Phoebe Brinker, who shot a 64 in her final round and finished two strokes behind Sambach at 202. Sambach shot a 68 in the first round, a 66 in the second round, and scored above par on just two of the 54 holes she played.

Behind Sambach's top finish and a 12th-place finish from Celeste Valinho, who shot a two-over 218, Virginia finished fourth in the team standings at 1-over 865, securing a spot as one of the top four teams to advance to the match play semifinals. UVA will face Wake Forest in the semifinals on Saturday, while Duke and Clemson will play in the other semifinal. The nationally-ranked No. 2 Demon Deacons finished atop the team standings at 19-under 845. The match play semifinals will begin on Saturday at 9am at Sedgefield Country Club.

Virginia's fourth-place finish in the team standings edged Virginia Tech's sixth-place finish, so the Cavaliers earned a point in the 2022-2023 Commonwealth Clash, which UVA now leads 9-8. See the full list of events and scores for the 2022-2023 Commonwealth Clash here.
