Freshman Bella Cabral has made her mark on UVA softball as the everyday second baseman and she was the star of the weekday matchup at Longwood. Cabral went 3 for 4 with two home runs, and she scored 3 of her team's four runs in Virginia's 4-1 road victory at Longwood on Tuesday afternoon.

Jade Hylton led off the game with a solo homer and Cabral hit her first bomb in the two spot, giving Virginia a 2-0 lead before Longwood could record an out. Macee Eaton added an RBI single in the top of the third.

Longwood was able to bring the score to 3-1 with an RBI groundout in the bottom of the fifth after a fielding error gave the team runners on first and third with one out.

In response, Savanah Henley managed to get out of the jam and then retire the final six batters of the game. Henley pitched a complete game and only gave up two hits.

Bella Cabral gave Virginia more breathing room with her second homer in the seventh inning, but Henley made sure that Longwood didn’t bring the score any closer.

Virginia (14-5) will travel to Chapel Hill this weekend to face UNC in the second ACC series of the season. The ACC preseason poll has UNC finishing seventh and UVA finishing ninth, so this series could help Virginia jockey for position as the team aims to exceed those expectations.
