Four Cavaliers, One UVA Baseball Commit Selected in 2023 MLB Draft
The 2023 Major League Baseball Draft is officially in the books and for the second year in a row, four players from the Virginia baseball program heard their names called. UVA baseball's Kyle Teel, Jake Gelof, Connelly Early, and Ethan O'Donnell were selected during the draft, as was Jonny Farmelo, a high school recruit who had been committed to Virginia since July of 2020. This marks the 16th time in program history that at least four Cavaliers have been selected in the MLB Draft.

Kyle Teel became the 15th UVA baseball player to be selected in the first round of the MLB Draft and 13 of those first round picks have come under Brian O'Connor. For just the third time in program history and the first time since 2017, four Cavaliers were picked in the first six rounds of the MLB Draft. Virginia has now produced 147 all-time MLB Draft selections, 98 of which have come during the Brian O'Connor era.
