With Virginia facing some significant (although not all unexpected) roster turnover this offseason, the Cavaliers find themselves in need of reinforcements. The UVA coaching staff is still perusing the transfer portal looking for experienced college players, but the Cavaliers also appear to be looking to secure a late addition to their 2023 high school recruiting class.

On March 14th, four-star shooting guard Blue Cain (Knoxville, Tennessee) requested a release from his National Letter of Intent with Georgia Tech after the school parted ways with head coach Josh Pastner. Cain reopened his recruitment and Virginia was one of several major conference programs to make contact with the 6'4" shooting guard since then. 247Sports rates Cain as the No. 96 overall recruit in the class of 2023, the No. 16 shooting guard in the country, and the No. 8 player in the state of Florida.

Cain is currently playing for IMG Academy (FL) at Geico Nationals, a tournament featuring eight of the best high school boys' basketball teams in the nation in Fort Myers, Florida. In the first round on Thursday, Cain scored 21 points and banked in a wild circus shot from well beyond the arc just before the buzzer to win the game for IMG and advance to Friday's semifinals.

Per Andrew Slater, Cain has planned three of his five official visits for when the NCAA's recruiting dead period ends after April 6th. Cain will visit Georgia, Florida, and Virginia over the following few weeks. He is also in contact with Auburn, Kansas, and Nebraska.

Virginia is looking to add to its 2023 recruiting class that already features a pair of four-star recruits in Blake Buchanan (Coeur D'Alene, Idaho) and Elijah Gertrude (Jersey City, New Jersey).
