2024 Shooting Guard Ishan Sharma Commits to Virginia
In the end, it only took a few days for Ishan Sharma to make up his mind. Just three days after receiving a scholarship offer from the UVA men's basketball program following an official visit last weekend, 2024 shooting guard Ishan Sharma announced his commitment to Virginia in a social media post on Thursday evening.
Sharma caught the attention of Tony Bennett and his staff with his lights out shooting at the Nike EYBL Peach Jam this summer. He shot just under 45% from beyond the arc this summer for UPLAY Canada on the EYBL circuit. The 6'5" shooting guard is about to begin his senior year at Fort Erie International Academy in Fort Erie, Ontario and has also represented Canada in multiple international FIBA tournaments.
Sharma visited UVA last week and announced on social media he had picked up an offer from the Cavaliers following the visit on Monday. He also held offers from Seton Hall, Virginia Tech, Arizona State, and a handful of mid-majors, but ultimately chose to commit to Virginia just a few days after his official visit.
Sharma becomes Virginia's second verbal commit in the recruiting class of 2024, joining four-star forward Jacob Cofie, who committed to UVA in September.
