Updating Virginia's Scholarship Chart Following Transfer Additions

See what UVA's scholarship chart and roster breakdown look like after the Cavaliers added transfers Andrew Rohde and Jordan Minor

In this story:

Though it required a few weeks of patient evaluation and recruiting, Virginia has plunged into the transfer portal with a pair of transfer commitments in the last week. UVA added Merrimack graduate transfer forward Jordan Minor on April 13th and St. Thomas transfer guard Andrew Rohde on April 18th. If you include Dante Harris, a guard who transferred from Georgetown to Virginia back in December, the Cavaliers have secured three transfers who are joining the program for the 2023-2024 season.

Virginia lost a total of eight scholarship players from the 2022-2023 roster. Kihei Clark, Jayden Gardner, and Ben Vander Plas graduated, Francisco Caffaro, Isaac Traudt, and Kadin Shedrick entered the transfer portal, and Reece Beekman and Armaan Franklin declared for the NBA Draft, though Beekman has maintained his college eligibility and has until May 31st to decide to either stay in the draft or return to college.

UVA is returning Taine Murray, Isaac McKneely, Ryan Dunn, and Leon Bond III from last season's roster, adding transfers Dante Harris, Jordan Minor, and Andrew Rohde, and bringing in a freshman class of Blake Buchanan and Elijah Gertrude. That gives Virginia nine scholarship players for 2023-2024 - ten if Beekman decides to return, so UVA has at least three open scholarship spots for next season. See Virginia's full scholarship picture for the next four seasons in the chart below.

Note: the 2020-2021 season continues to be a "freebie" season that does not count against a player's eligibility. The graphic above shows Virginia's scholarship picture with the assumption that every player utilizes the extent of his eligibility. For UVA's roster, that applies to Reece Beekman, Dante Harris, and Jordan Minor.
