McGlockton is fouled and makes both free throws and Boston College leads 12 by points. Armaan Franklin cuts to the basket on an inbounds play and scores off the glass for just his second field goal of the game. Boston College gets a couple of second-chance opportunities and McGlockton finishes the putback layup over Vander Plas. Franklin sells out for a steal but doesn't get there and time, allowing Ashton-Langford to get a step ahead for a long drive to the basket for a layup. Ben Vander Plas gets a look from the top of the key and drains the three-pointer, but it's too little too late for the Cavaliers, who still trail by 11 with just one minute to go. Boston College runs the shot clock all the way down and Makai Ashton-Langford nails a pull-up three-pointer to put the game away. DeMarr Langford Jr. hits another three with 16 seconds left to pour salt in the wound for UVA. Kihei Clark adds a mid-range jumper to make the final score Boston College 63, Virginia 48. The Eagles get their first win over the Cavaliers since 2020.

Gardner gets the ball inside, draws the Boston College defense in, and then dishes to Ben Vander Plas for a mid-range jumper from the baseline. Aligbe cuts down the lane and receives the pass from Ashton-Langford before elevating for a dunk. Vander Plas posts up on the low block and gets a big bucket to go off the glass plus a foul on McGlockton. He misses the free throw.

Ryan Dunn misses both free throws and the deficit stays at 10 points. After Ryan Dunn blocks a shot at the rim, Beekman misses a layup but Gardner is there to collect the offensive rebound and draws a foul, making both free throws. Aligbe kicks out to Zackery, who swishes the corner three to restore the Boston College lead to 11 points. Clark drives inside and dishes to Gardner, who hits a turnaround hook shot. While falling out of bounds, Vander Plas swings a pass to Gardner, who scores again with a short jumper. Zackery muscles his way past Beekman and gets to the rim for a layup. Boston College gets a stop and then Jaeden Zackery pulls up and drills a three-pointer, giving the Eagles a 12-point lead with less than eight minutes to go.

Kihei Clark misses a wide open three and Boston College scores again as Post dishes to Zackery for a layup. Finally, Virginia makes a three-pointer as Gardner passes to Isaac McKneely, who drains UVA's second three of the game. Boston College responds right away as Langford gets free on the backside and finishes the lob at the rim. McKneely shoots and splashes his second three in a row. DeMarr Langford draws a foul inside and makes 1/2 free throws. Ryan Dunn gets free underneath and is fouled by McGlockton. Dunn will shoot two free throws after the timeout with Virginia trailing by 10 points.

Just as he did to open the game, Jayden Gardner scores the first bucket of the second half with a mid-range jumper. After Reece Beekman had his shot rejected in the paint, Jaeden Zackery attacks Kihei Clark on the other end and scores with a floater. UVA has made the decision to not double-team Quinten Post anymore and Jayden Gardner has responded to the challenge, playing very solid one-on-one defense against Post down low. Virginia turns it over and Makai Ashton-Langford takes it the length of the court for a layup. Beekman steals the ball in the back court and maneuvers his way inside for a tough contested layup. This time, Post wins the matchup against Gardner, who tried to draw an offensive foul and gave Post an easy hook shot as a result.

That gives Boston College a 24-17 lead. DeMarr Langford gets good positioning inside on Clark and Post finds him for the layup to put the Eagles up by nine. Beekman drives inside and draws a foul, making both free throws. Ashton-Langford is fouled on a drive to the rim and makes both free throws. Kihei Clark gets inside and banks in a shot from the paint to end a Virginia field goal drought that lasted nearly six minutes. Beekman blocks a layup attempt from Ashton-Langford and that starts a quick fast-break opportunity for Virginia, but Kihei Clark misses a pull-up jumper at the buzzer. Boston College takes a 28-21 into the halftime break.

Jaeden Zackery chases down a long rebound and dishes to Makai Ashton-Langford for a layup. Ashton-Langford then steals the ball from McKneely and takes it the length of the floor for a transition bucket. Virginia has gone more than three minutes without scoring and has made just one of its last nine field goals. Boston College has taken advantage with a 6-0 run and the Eagles lead 21-15. Gardner is up to eight points now as he backs down Langford and hits a fadeaway jumper. Mason Madsen loses Isaac McKneely and pulls up and hits a mid-range jumper from the baseline.
