Virginia's hunt for a point guard in the class of 2024 has taken an interesting turn as four-star point guard Jase Richardson has included UVA in his top eight schools, although he has yet to receive a scholarship offer from the Cavaliers. Richardson announced his top eight on Tuesday evening and included Virginia along with Arkansas, Michigan State, Stanford, Southern California, Cincinnati, Alabama, and San Diego State.

A 6'3", 180-pound guard from Bishop Gorman in Las Vegas, Nevada, Richardson is the son of former NBA basketball player Jason Richardson, who played in the NBA from 2001 to 2015 and was a two-time NBA Dunk Contest champion. Before reaching the NBA, Jason Richardson played his college ball at Michigan State, where he won a national championship with Tom Izzo and the Spartans in 2000.

Jase Richardson is considering following in his father's footsteps to East Lansing, as he has taken an official visit to Michigan State already, but Richardson says his recruitment is still wide open and is prioritizing the school and program that will be the best fit for him. Richardson has also taken unofficial visits to California, USC, Washington, Arkansas, and Stanford.

Virginia has yet to extend an offer to Richardson, but it appears any interest from Tony Bennett and the UVA coaching staff would be very well reciprocated.

"A school I'd like to hear from is probably Virginia," Richardson said in an interview with Pro Insight last week. "I just like their style of play. You know, everybody eats on their team. They like moving the ball, they like sharing it as a team."

247Sports has Richardson ranked as the No. 54 overall recruit in the class of 2024, as well as the No. 7 combo guard and the No. 3 player in the state of Nevada. Other recruiting services have Richardson solidly in the top 50 prospects in the 2024 recruiting class and rate him as a top ten point guard in the country.

Securing a point guard is one of UVA's top priorities for the recruiting class of 2024. To that end, the Cavaliers offered four-star point guard Christian Bliss (Newtown, PA) on Monday. It remains to be seen if the Hoos will now begin to pursue Jase Richardson as well.

Virginia currently has active offers out to 12 players in the recruiting class of 2024:

PF Jarin Stevenson (Pittsboro, NC)
CG Jaeden Mustaf (Matthews, NC)
SG Jayden "Juke" Harris (Salisbury, NC)
SF Caleb Williams (Washington D.C.)
SF Isaiah Abraham (Warrenton, VA)
SG Rakease Passmore (Asheville, NC)
SF Kon Knueppel (Milwaukee, WI)
PG Daniel Freitag (Minneapolis, MN)
PG Travis Perry (Eddyville, KY)
C Thomas Sorber (Philadelphia, PA)
C Patrick Ngongba II (Fairfax, VA)
PG Christian Bliss (Newtown, PA)
