Virginia men's basketball announced on Wednesday that 2024 recruits Jacob Cofie and Ishan Sharma have officially signed their National Letters of Intent and will join the program starting in the 2024-2025 season.

“We are excited to add Jacob and Ishan to our basketball program,” said UVA head coach Tony Bennett. “They are talented, competitive and high character individuals. Jacob and Ishan have outstanding families and value a degree from the University of Virginia.”

A 6'10", 230-pound power forward from Seattle, Washington, Cofie announced his verbal commitment to Virginia back on September 17th, picking the Cavaliers over USC, Washington, and Ohio State. Cofie averaged 20.9 points, 11.0 rebounds, and 5.2 assists in his junior season at Eastside Catholic School and is a consensus four-star prospect as well as the No. 61 overall recruit in the class of 2024 per ESPN's recruiting rankings.

“Jacob is a strong athlete with positional size,” said Bennett. “His ball handling and passing skills along with his ability to post up and face the basket make him a multidimensional offensive threat.”

A 6'5", 185-pound guard from Milton, Ontario, Ishan Sharma committed to Virginia on October 19th shortly following an official visit. Sharma held offers from Seton Hall, Virginia Tech, Arizona State, and a handful of mid-major programs. One of the top perimeter shooters in his class, Sharma shot 45% from three at the Nike EYBL Peach Jam this summer.

“Ishan is a complete guard with good size and feel for the game,” Bennett said. “His shooting ability and passing stood out to our staff.”

With Cofie and Sharma signing their NLIs, Virginia has technically filled all 13 of its scholarship spots for the 2024-2025 season, but that assumes every player uses the extent of his eligibility. That includes Reece Beekman, who has another year of eligibility, but who will almost certainly turn pro after this season. Add in any other unforeseen departures and UVA will likely have a couple of scholarship spots to work with next offseason.
