Virginia Officially Signs Merrimack Transfer Jordan Minor
The Virginia men's basketball program made official the signing of Merrimack transfer forward Jordan Minor on Tuesday afternoon.
“We are excited to add Jordan to the Virginia basketball family,” said UVA head coach Tony Bennett. “He is a great athlete with a strong work ethic. Jordan had an excellent four-year career at Merrimack, and we look forward to him joining our program.”
Minor announced his commitment to the Cavaliers on April 13th and is officially coming to UVA now that he has signed a financial aid agreement. He will join Virginia's roster for the 2023-2024 season as a graduate transfer and has one year of eligibility remaining.
A 6'8", 240-pound forward from Kingston, Massachusetts, Minor appeared in 107 games over his four-year career at Merrmiack, including 76 starts. Minor averaged a career-high 17.4 points, 9.4 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 2.6 blocks per game last season and was named the 2022-2023 Northeast Conference Co-Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year as well as a First-Team All-NEC selection.
“I think UVA was a no-brainer for me,” Minor said in UVA's press release. “The amazing coaching staff and winning culture is something that’s important to me. I believe in Coach Bennett’s vision for the team and myself, and we want to be back in the Final Four competing for a national championship.”
The announcement of Minor's official signing came on the same day that the Cavaliers earned the commitment of another transfer, as St. Thomas freshman guard Andrew Rohde also announced his commitment to Virginia on Tuesday afternoon. UVA is adding three players to its roster for next season from the transfer portal: Andrew Rohde, Jordan Minor, and Dante Harris, who transferred to Virginia from Georgetown back in December.
