Virginia Unranked in Preseason AP Top 25 Men's Basketball Poll
Virginia is unranked in the preseason AP Top 25 Men's College Basketball Poll, which was released on Monday afternoon. The Cavaliers are unranked to start the season for the first time since 2017-2018, a season in which Virginia reached its first No. 1 ranking since 1982.
UVA received 27 votes in the preseason poll, sixth-most among teams not ranked in the Top 25. If the AP poll extended beyond 25 teams, Virginia would be ranked 31st according to the preseason vote.
Four of the opponents on UVA's 2023-2024 schedule are ranked in the preseason Top 25: No. 2 Duke, No. 13 Miami, No. 15 Texas A&M, and No. 19 North Carolina. Three more of Virginia's non-conference opponents received votes in the poll: Wisconsin (53), Memphis (7), and Florida (2). The ACC is represented with just three teams in the preseason Top 25.
