UVA Fans Can Vote for Virginia WR Malik Washington for the Biletnikoff Award
Virginia senior wide receiver Malik Washington is in the running for the 2023 Biletnikoff Award, presented annually to the most outstanding receiver in college football. The award winner is determined by a vote of the Biletnikoff Award National Selection Committee, but there is also a Fan Vote that will count as one additional vote during each voting period for the semifinalists, finalists, and winner.
Voting is currently taking place for the semifinalists for the award and fans can vote here: https://biletnikoffaward.com/fan-vote/
As of the posting of this story, Malik Washington leads all receivers with 19.94% of the Fan Vote. Semifinalists will be announced on November 20th. The three finalists will be announced on November 28th and the winner will be unveiled on December 8th.
A senior transfer from Northwestern, Malik Washington is in the midst of perhaps the greatest single season by a receiver in Virginia football history. Washington has 88 receptions for 1,999 yards, and seven touchdowns through ten games. He is second in the country in receiving yards, only trailing LSU's Malik Nabers (1,284) and is second in receptions behind Florida Atlantic's LaJohntay Wester (93).
Washington already owns the school record for most games with at least 100 yards receiving with eight. He has reached that mark in eight of the ten games this season, even though he never once had a 100-yard receiving game in his career at Northwestern.
Washington needs just five receiving yards to pass Dontayvion Wicks for most receiving yards in a single season at UVA. Wicks broke Herman Moore's record, which had stood for 30 years, only two seasons ago with 1,203 yards in 2021. Washington needs six receptions to pass Olamide Zaccheaus for most receptions in a single season. Zaccheaus tallied a school-record 93 catches in 2018.
Malik Washington is looking to become the first receiver in Virginia football history to win the Biletnikoff Award.
