The Virginia football program signed nine preferred walk-ons to its incoming freshmen class for the 2023 season, as announced by UVA head coach Tony Elliott on Thursday afternoon. The group of walk-ons, which includes six natives of the Commonwealth of Virginia, are set to arrive at UVA this coming weekend and will begin taking classes at the start of Summer Session II on June 20th. 

Here are the nine players who are joining Virginia's roster as preferred walk-ons:

Nana Appouh
Position: defensive lineman
Size: 6'4", 300 pounds
Hometown: Herndon, Virginia
School: Herndon High School

Rob Keys
Position: linebacker
Size: 6'2", 200 pounds
Hometown: Chantilly, Virginia
School: Westfield High School

Andy Lutes
Position: offensive lineman
Size: 6'4", 260 pounds
Hometown: Salem, Virginia
School: Salem High School

Claiborne Richards
Position: wide receiver
Size: 5'11", 175 pounds
Hometown: Nashville, Tennessee
School: Montgomery Bell Academy

Hayden Rollison
Position: tight end
Size: 6'3", 230 pounds
Hometown: Richmond, Virginia
School: Collegiate School

Elijah Slibeck
Position: punter/kicker
Size: 6'5", 200 pounds
Hometown: Indianapolis, Indiana
School: Warren Central High School

Gabe Sneed
Position: defensive lineman
Size: 6'5", 250 pounds
Hometown: Big Stone Gap, Virginia
School: Union High School

Dane Steele
Position: offensive lineman
Size: 6'4", 285 pounds
Hometown: Charlotte, North Carolina
School: Covenant Day School

Justin Stewart
Position: defensive lineman
Size: 6'2", 220 pounds
Hometown: Alexandria, Virginia
School: St. Stephen's & St Agnes School

“We are excited to have these young men enroll at Virginia and join our program for the 2023 season,” said UVA head coach Tony Elliott. “They all had multiple options on where to attend college and continue their football careers so their belief in what we are building at Virginia is meaningful to our program and in their communities.”
