Virginia Tight End Joshua Rawlings Enters the Transfer Portal
Virginia senior tight end Joshua Rawlings announced on Monday afternoon that he is entering the transfer portal with two years of eligibility remaining.
"Over the last four years I have made significant strides into the man I seek to become and it is with the utmost humility when I say I am forever grateful for the University of Virginia," Rawlings said in a social media post. "As I close one chapter of my life, I look forward to what the future holds. With 2 years of eligibility left, I will be entering the transfer portal. Forever a Cavalier, Wahoowa."
A 6'6", 263-pound tight end from Pittsburgh, Rawlings appeared in 26 total games over the last three seasons, including all 12 games in 2023. He recorded his first career reception at Miami and caught his first touchdown pass the following week, a nine-yard strike against Georgia Tech. Those were his only two career receptions, as he spent most of his career sitting behind Grant Misch and Sackett Wood on the UVA depth chart.
Virginia's tight end unit is getting thin, as Misch has exhausted his collegiate eligibility and it's unclear if Wood, a senior, will be utilizing his additional COVID year of eligibility. UVA is certainly in the market for reinforcements at the tight end position and the Cavaliers have offered at least two tight end transfers - Harvard's Tyler Neville and Ball State's Tanner Koziol.
