WATCH: Mike Hollins Speaks to Media Ahead of UVA Football Fall Camp
Less than a week remains until the Virginia football program opens fall camp, which will mark the final preparations before the Cavaliers return to the field for a real game for the first time since the tragic shooting that claimed the lives of Lavel Davis Jr., Devin Chandler, and D'Sean Perry last November.
The beginning of the 2023 football season bears immense significance and emotion for the Virginia football program as a whole, as well as the entire UVA and Charlottesville community, but it is especially meaningful for graduate running back Mike Hollins, who was shot on that fateful night in November, but was able to make a full recovery and even participated in spring practice with the Cavaliers, scoring a touchdown in the spring game.
Now, Hollins and his teammates are preparing for what is a tremendously important season in more ways than one, as the Cavaliers, through their play on the field, look to show the resilient spirit of their football program and their school and honor the lives and memories of their fallen teammates and brothers.
Virginia held a press conference with Mike Hollins on Friday at the George Welsh Indoor Practice Facility, where he spent more than half an hour answering questions on his recovery and his thoughts on fall camp and the upcoming UVA football season. Virginia is set to open fall camp on Wednesday, August 2nd.
