Lars Tiffany and the Cavaliers have secured a big-time reinforcement for their offensive unit. Tufts attackman Jack Boyden, a two-time All-American and the Division III Player of the Year in 2023, is transferring to Virginia for his final season of college lacrosse, as reported by Inside Lacrosse's Ty Xanders on Monday evening.

A graduate transfer attackman originally from Toronto, Ontario, Boyden has recorded a staggering 290 points in the last two seasons after moving up to the attack line for Tufts. In 2022, Boyden tallied 133 points on 86 goals and 47 assists, garnering First-Team All-Conference honors and a USILA Dynamic All-American honorable mention. Boyden stepped it up as the main facilitator of Tufts' offense in 2023, recording 157 points on 69 goals and 88 assists and leading the Jumbos on an incredible undefeated run to the National Championship Game, where they fell to Salisbury to end their season with a 22-1 record.

Boyden had seven games with at least 10 points this season, led all of Division III averaging 6.83 points per game, and was third in the nation at 3.83 assists per game. The United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association named Boyden the National Outstanding Player of the Year, the Outstanding Attackman of the Year, and was a First-Team All-American.

Boyden will provide a key scoring boost to a Virginia offense that lost some key pieces to graduation in Xander Dickson, Thomas McConvey, and Jeff Conner. With Connor Shellenberger and Payton Cormier set to return in 2024, Boyden will likely compete for the third spot on the UVA attack line along with rising sophomore Truitt Sunderland, who saw some time on attack as a true freshman, and incoming freshman McCabe Millon, the No. 1 overall recruit in the 2023 recruiting class. There isn't a bad choice in that group, which will give Kevin Cassese, the former Lehigh head coach who was hired to replace Sean Kirwan as UVA's offensive coordinator, plenty of pieces to work with for Virginia's offense in 2024.

Jack Boyden is the third transfer Virginia has brought in this offseason, joining Harvard short-stick defensive midfielder Chase Yager and Binghamton face-off specialist Matthew DeSouza
