Report: Virginia Faceoff Specialist Mac Eldridge Transfers to Penn

Virginia freshman faceoff specialist Mac Eldridge has reportedly transferred to Penn, according to a report from Inside Lacrosse's Ty Xanders on Monday morning.
Former @UVAMensLax face-off man Mac Eldridge will transfer to @PennMensLax, multiple sources tell @Inside_Lacrosse. The No. 1 ranked FO recruit in the Class of 2022 is expected to help a Quaker unit that finished the year ranked 58th in D1 at 45.2 percent.

Eldridge was one of the first players to enter the transfer portal when the window opened for spring sports on May 8th, a couple of weeks before UVA's season came to an end. A Richmond native who played his high school lacrosse at Georgetown Prep in Maryland, Eldridge was the No. 1 faceoff recruit in the recruiting class of 2022 and the No. 13 overall recruit in his class per Inside Lacrosse.
In his one and only season at Virginia, Eldridge appeared in 11 games and took 69 faceoffs, winning 31 of them for a 46.3% faceoff percentage. Eldridge got some decent reps early in the year, winning 4/7 draws against Michigan in the season-opener and going 9/20 against Harvard in the second game of the season. But, he played sparingly the rest of the year despite being the only backup at faceoff behind Petey LaSalla, as Gable Braun missed the entire season with an injury.
Now, Braun is the only faceoff man left on Virginia's roster with Petey LaSalla joining the ranks of the Premier Lacrosse League and Mac Eldridge heading to the Ivy League to suit up for the Penn Quakers. With UVA not having a faceoff commit in its 2023 recruiting class, Lars Tiffany and the Cavaliers will inevitably be looking into the transfer portal to add a faceoff specialist to their roster for the 2024 season.
