Virginia Lacrosse Lands Commitment From No. 1 Overall Recruit Brendan Millon
Once again, Lars Tiffany proves to be the king of the lacrosse recruiting world. For the fifth time in the last seven recruiting cycles, the No. 1 overall recruit in the country will play lacrosse at the University of Virginia. Brendan Millon, the No. 1 recruit in the class of 2025 and the younger brother of UVA freshman attackman McCabe Millon (a No. 1 overall recruit in his own class), announced his commitment to the Virginia men's lacrosse program on Tuesday evening.
A 6'0" attackman who attends McDonogh School in Maryland, Millon led his team to a second-straight MIAA championship as a sophomore this spring. Millon tallied 47 goals and 33 assists this season and posted a five-goal, one-assist performance in the championship game.
As the undisputed top prospect in the class of 2025, Millon had his pick of several of the top elite college lacrosse programs in the country, including Maryland, Notre Dame, and Johns Hopkins. Ultimately, Millon chose to commit to Virginia, citing academics, UVA's impending lacrosse facilities upgrade, and the program's "history of winning" as major reasons for his decision.
"The academics have always been a very important thing for me. At a hard school like McDonogh, I've had to work very hard for the grades I got, so I wanted to go somewhere where all of that would be worth it," Millon said in an interview with Inside Lacrosse. "Another thing is the new lacrosse facilities that are being built — they have some unreal things being built specifically for lacrosse. Also, after being there more than other schools because my brother goes there, I was able to get a better feel for the campus environment, and overall I loved it so much. Last but certainly not least is their national championship history and their history of winning."
Millon becomes the latest in a line of No. 1 overall recruits to pledge to the Cavaliers, a group that includes his older brother McCabe Millon, who arrived on Grounds this fall and is currently preparing for his freshman season at Virginia. The Millon family is quickly becoming lacrosse royalty, as McCabe and Brendan are the sons of Mark and Erin Millon, who are both members of the USA Lacrosse Hall of Fame.
Virginia has now landed the No. 1 overall recruit in five of the last seven recruiting cycles: Connor Shellenberger (2019), Griffin Schutz (2021), McCabe Millon (2023), Ryan Duenkel (2024), and Brendan Millon (2025). UVA's 2025 recruiting class now includes the No. 1, No. 5, and No. 13 overall recruits as well as five more four-star recruits.
