Recruitment for the lacrosse recruiting class of 2025 officially opened on September 1st and since then, Lars Tiffany and his coaching staff have been hard at work contacting and recruiting the next great players to pass through the Virginia men's lacrosse program. So far, UVA has landed three verbal commits from the 2025 class and each of those players is ranked in the top 50 of the Inside Lacrosse recruiting rankings.

One day after open recruitment began, Virginia landed a commitment from Griff Meyer, a four-star faceoff specialist out of The Haverford School in Pennsylvania. Meyer is the No. 31 overall recruit in Inside Lacrosse's 2025 rankings and the No. 2 faceoff man in the nation. A strong and stocky 5'6", 190-pound frame will undoubtedly remind UVA fans of Petey LaSalla, who finished his Cavalier career as the program-leader in faceoff wins. Meyer will be the latest in a long line of Haverford lacrosse players to attend Virginia, joining former UVA midfielders Dox Aitken and Peter Garno as well as Wills Burt, the No. 20 overall recruit in the class of 2023 who is now preparing for his freshman season at Virginia.

Tiffany and company added two more commits on September 12th with four-star goalie Patrick Biese and five-star long-stick midfielder Will Pedicano pledging to the Cavaliers. A native of Chapel Hill who attends Culver Military Academy in Indiana, Biese is the No. 36 overall recruit in the class of 2025 and the No. 4-ranked goalie in the country. Virginia is set up fairly well at the goalie position with Matthew Nunes about to begin his junior season and former 2022 four-star goalie Kyle Morris still having all four seasons of eligibility. Securing a commitment from Biese, who is set to enroll at UVA for the 2026 season, gives the Cavaliers even more stability in between the pipes for the foreseeable future.

Virginia picked up its first five-star commitment from LSM Will Pedicano out of Delbarton School in New Jersey. At 6'3", Pedicano is long and athletic, making him a potential groundball and caused turnover machine at the next level. Pedicano is the No. 13 overall recruit in Inside Lacrosse's rankings and the No. 3-ranked LSM in his class. He'll look to follow in the footsteps of some highly productive Cavalier LSMs like Jared Conners and Cole Kastner.

Virginia has a total of four commits for its 2025 recruiting class as Brayden Lahey, a four-star attackman out of Trinity-Pawling School in New York, committed to UVA last October originally as a member of the 2024 recruiting class, but reclassified down to the class of 2025. With Lahey technically serving as Virginia's first 2025 commit, UVA has three four-star recruits and one five-star and the Cavaliers have covered several different positions with an attackman, a goalie, a faceoff man, and an LSM making up their current 2025 recruiting class.

And UVA isn't done yet, as Lars Tiffany and company are certainly on the hunt for more talent, especially at midfield and attack. The Cavaliers definitely have their sights set on Brendan Millon, the No. 1 overall recruit in the class of 2025 and the younger brother of McCabe Millon, the No. 1 recruit in the 2023 recruiting class who is currently a freshman at Virginia. Pairing the Millon brothers together as a future tandem on UVA's attack line is a top priority for the Hoos, and given their recent track record with No. 1 overall recruits, they absolutely have a chance to do just that. Virginia has landed the No. 1 overall recruit in three of the last four classes and four of the last six: Connor Shellenberger (2019), Griffin Schutz (2021), McCabe Millon (2023), and Ryan Duenkel (2024).
