Virginia to Face Georgetown on Saturday at 12pm in NCAA Quarterfinals

The Cavaliers will face the Hoyas in a rematch of the 2021 NCAA quarterfinals with a spot in the Final Four on the line

The No. 2 seed Virginia men's lacrosse team (12-3) will take on No. 7 seed Georgetown (13-3) in the quarterfinals of the NCAA Men's Lacrosse Championship on Saturday, May 20th at 12pm at Tom & Mary Casey Stadium in Albany, New York. The game will be televised on ESPNU. 

UVA advanced to the quarterfinals for the fourth-consecutive NCAA Tournament after defeating Richmond 17-8 in the first round on Saturday at Klockner Stadium behind six goals from Payton Cormier and two goals and four assists from Connor Shellenberger. Georgetown outlasted Yale in the first round with a dramatic 19-17 victory on Saturday in Washington, D.C. 

This quarterfinal game will be a rematch of the 2021 NCAA Tournament that saw No. 4 seed Virginia crush No. 5 seed Georgetown 14-3 thanks to a six-goal performance from redshirt freshman Connor Shellenberger. The Cavaliers went on to win their second-straight national title and seventh in program history.

Virginia and Georgetown will play in the first quarterfinal game of the day and of the weekend. No. 1 Duke will face Michigan in the second quarterfinal in Albany on Saturday. Sunday's quarterfinals in Annapolis, Maryland will feature No. 5 Penn State vs. Army in the first game and No. 3 Notre Dame vs. No. 6 Johns Hopkins in the second game. 

The winner of Virginia-Georgetown will advance to the Final Four and will take on the winner of Notre Dame-Johns Hopkins in the semifinals on Saturday, May 27th at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia.
