Virginia Men's Lacrosse Ranked No. 3 in Inside Lacrosse Preseason Top 20
For the second year in a row, it seems to be a three-horse race in men's college lacrosse as both USA Lacrosse Magazine and now Inside Lacrosse have Notre Dame, Duke, and Virginia atop its preseason top 20 polls. Inside Lacrosse unveiled its 2024 Preseason Men's Division I Media Poll on Monday and Virginia came in at No. 3, earning two first-place votes.
Defending national champs Notre Dame is the preseason No. 1 with 16 first-place votes and Duke is No. 2 with six first-place votes. Each of the five ACC teams are ranked, including each of the top three and four in the top 10: No. 1 Notre Dame, No. 2 Duke, No. 3 Virginia, No. 9 Syracuse, and No. 17 North Carolina.
Virginia is scheduled to face eight teams ranked in the Inside Lacrosse Preseason Top 20 in the 2024 season: vs. No. 11 Michigan (Feb. 10), at No. 20 Richmond (Feb. 17), vs. No. 5 Johns Hopkins (Mar. 2), at No. 6 Maryland (Mar. 16), vs. No. 17 North Carolina (Apr. 6), at No. 2 Duke (Apr. 13), at No. 9 Syracuse (Apr. 20), vs. No. 1 Notre Dame (Apr. 27), not to mention the return of the ACC Men's Lacrosse Tournament for the first time since the 2019 season.
