Virginia Ranked No. 2 in Inside Lacrosse Poll Following Win Over Notre Dame
Virginia is ranked No. 2 in this week's Inside Lacrosse Media Poll released on Monday. The Cavaliers moved up a spot after they completed the season sweep over previous No. 1 Notre Dame with a 12-8 win over the Fighting Irish on Sunday afternoon.
UVA received three first-place votes, but the other 16 first-place votes went to Duke, who claimed the No. 1 spot as well as the outright ACC Championship thanks to Virginia's win over Notre Dame.
Each of the five ACC teams are ranked in the Inside Lacrosse Top 20: No. 1 Duke, No. 2 Virginia, No. 3 Notre Dame, No. 17 North Carolina, and No. 18 Syracuse. Barring a surprising loss by either Duke (vs. Merrimack) or Notre Dame (vs. North Carolina) this weekend, the ACC should be in line to have the top three overall seeds in the NCAA Tournament. UVA is idle this weekend, finishing the regular season at 11-3 overall and 4-2 in ACC play.
