Smith has started the 2023 MLB season red-hot at the plate

Former Virginia baseball star Pavin Smith has started the 2023 MLB season red-hot at the plate. In just seven games so far this season for the Arizona Diamonbacks, Smith has recorded six runs scored, eight hits, two home runs, and 10 RBI. Four of those RBI came on just one swing as Smith hit his first-career grand slam to lead the Diamondbacks to a 6-3 win over the St. Louis Cardinals on Monday.

Smith was inducted into the Virginia Baseball Hall of Fame earlier this year, a well-deserved honor for the two-time All-ACC selection who was responsible for the game-winning hits in three of UVA's NCAA Tournament wins on the road to winning the 2015 College World Series.
