Virginia football defeats Wake Forest 31-30 after trailing by 14 points in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Anthony Colandrea leads the charge with 357 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions.

Virginia 31, Wake Forest 30 | FINAL
First play Bachmeier rushes for one yard. Second play Bachmeier finds a receiver for a first down. Third play, incomplete pass. 20 seconds left. Holding penalty on Wake Forest. Next play, Bachmeier finds his receiver for a short gain. Five seconds left. After a long amount of laterals, Virginia pulls off the win.

Virginia 31, Wake Forest 30 | 1:08 Fourth Quarter
Virginia runs twice and passes to Fields forcing Wake Forest to use all three of their timeouts with 1:08 to go. Wake Forest ball on their own five yard line after an outstanding punt by Daniel Sparks.

Virginia pass rush gets pressure on Bachmeier to force a 3rd and three. On 3rd down, Bachmeier finds Taylor Morin for a 19 yard gain before finding Morin again who fumbles and the ball is recovered by Antonio Clary to give Virginia the ball back. Malcom Greene forces the fumble.

With the ball back Cavaliers pick up a first down on a key fourth down conversion before Fields draws a pass interference penalty to put Virginia on the Wake Forest 32 yard line. Two plays later, Pace powers for a first down before Fields makes his ninth catch of the game.

After that, Cavaliers find themselves with a 4th and two. On the play, Colandrea finds Fields for the conversion before Grady Brosterhous powers it home on the QB sneak to give Virginia the lead.

Virginia 24, Wake Forest 30 | 7:20 Fourth Quarter
Wake Forest drive begins and another Virginia player goes down this time Jason Hammond. Jonas Sanker has returned to the game. The Demon Deacons then picked up two first downs as Bachmeier continues to have plenty of time. After that Chico Bennett picks up a massive sack to help hault the Wake Forest drive before the Cavaliers Tre McDonald picks up a sack on fourth down to give the ball back to the Hoos.

Virginia starts the drive strong with multiple first downs before a holding penalty sets the drive back. Neville and Fields both continue to add to their big nights. After the hold the Cavaliers run two screen plays to Trell Harris to pick up two first downs before Harris catches a 24 yard touchdown from Colandrea. Cavaliers are back in the game.

On the ensuing Wake Forest possession the injury bug continues to riddle the Cavaliers with Jonas Sanker leaving the field with an injury, Despite this, Virginia gets the ball back.

Virginia goes three and out after a false start penalty ruins any Virginia momentum.

The Cavaliers picked up two first downs before Colandrea makes his first mistake of the night with an interception into double coverage. After the interception, Wake Forest drives down the field but the Cavaliers hold the Deacons to a field goal. During the drive Antonio Clary and Corey Thomas Jr. both leave the field with injuries.

On the opening drive of the third quarter, Wake picks up multiple first downs before the Cavaliers force a 4th and one. On the ensuing play, Claiborne picks up the first on a draw to continue the Wake drive. A few plays later, Virginia earned its fourth sack of the night before forcing another fourth and one. Similar to last time, Claiborne picks up another first down to set up first and goal before Bachmeier slings it to Donavon Greene.

To close the half, Colandrea finds his new trusty tight end Neville for a first down before a personal foul by Fields sets Virginia back. After the momentum killing play the Cavaliers struggled to push the ball down field. After that the Virginia special team woes continue with a blocked punt setting up Wake Forest on the Virginia 39. Wake Forest runs out of time.

A QB rush by Bachmeier and a few good throws set the Demon Deacons up in scoring position. Virginia stands tall with a tackle by Jason Hammond to force third down before a 4th and 10 stop by the Cavaliers.

In response the Cavaliers put together multiple first downs including a key fourth down conversion where Colandrea found Harris. One play later Colandrea finds Neville again to bring the game within one score.

Wake Forest drives down the field but the Cavaliers force a field goal for the Demon Deacons.

Colandrea finds Fields and Harris twice for three first downs. A play later Colandrea used his legs to pick up a first down before finding Tyler Neville for the touchdown.

Three plays into the drive Claiborne runs it in for the score. Kam Robinson comes up shaken up after the play.

Colandrea drops back to pass and gets his pass batted down which was then picked off by Kevin Pointer to give the Demon Deacons the ball on the Virginia 9.

Cavaliers stand tall defensively which includes James Jackson getting an eight yard sack. Virginia forces a three and out.

First play Virginia runs a flea flicker and Colandrea finds Fields. A play later Colandrea finds Fields for a 45 yard reception. Virginia runs three rushing plays on the goal line but are stopped all three times. On 4th and goal on the one the Cavaliers elect to take the points. Bettridge puts the Cavaliers on the board with a field goal.

Cavaliers get pressure with a good run stop and a sack by Kam Robinson before forcing a completion. Cavaliers get the ball back.

Colandrea finds Malachi Fields for a first down. On the next play he finds Trell Harris deep but Harris drops the ball denying the Cavaliers a guaranteed touchdown. The drop kills the momentum of the drive with an overthrown pass and failed run play force Sparks to punt away.

Hank Bachmeier finds his running back Claiborne for a quick first down before Bachmeier finds his tight end for a 31 yard gain. Two plays later Claiborne rushes in for the touchdown. Easy drive for the Demon Deacons.

Virginia starts with the ball after Wake Forest won the toss and elected to defer.
