A product of San Diego's Del Norte High School, Becker appeared in 19 games for Nevada over the previous two seasons. Those appearances came as a mix of time in the outfield and as a pitcher. In 2023, he appeared in one game as a pitcher, facing five batters with one strikeout and two walks. In 2024, he pitched in ten games, all in relief. He allowed 11 earned runs in ten innings pitched.

As a fielder, he had 17 putouts with five errors and a fielding percentage of .792 over the course of those two years. In 19 trips to the plate, he had three hits and scored three runs with one home run.

WSU finished the 2023 season with a record of 29-23 and missed the NCAA tournament.
