Former Washington State Quarterback Cam Ward Lands At #56 in ESPN Top 100 CFB Players
Following the 2023 season, the Washington State Cougars lost arguably their most exciting player when quarterback Cam Ward eventually decided to return to college football for another season, but entered the transfer portal. Ward landed at the University of Miami.
In his lone season with the Cougars after transferring from Incarnate Word, he threw for 3,735 yards, 25 TDs, five interceptions
ESPN released their preseason ranking of the top 100 players in FBS for 2024 this week, placing Ward at #56 overall. Prior to the 2023 season, Ward was listed at #52.

ESPN says of Ward that his move to the Hurricanes is "One of the biggest reasons expectations around Miami have skyrocketed."
Ward's departure left a bit of a vacuum at the quarterback position for Washington State. Bryant transfer Zevi Eckhaus and redshirt sophomore John Mateer have been battling it out throughout fall camp. The winner of that position battle is expected to be announced by WSU on Monday, August 19.
Washington State open the 2024 college football season on August 31 when they host the Portland State Vikings.
