Senior defensive end Quinn Roff will be one of Washington State's leaders in the 2024 campaign, which begins on Saturday, August 31. Until then, the Cougars are fine-tuning the different aspects of their team in fall camp.

The Cougars played their first scrimmage of the fall this past Saturday. Roff had two sacks in that scrimmage. The San Marcos, California native spoke to media aftwerwards about his own health and his group's performance.

Roff missed six games last season due to injury, but still managed to accrue eight tackles, six solo, one TFL and a sack. He had 7.5 tackles for loss and 5.5 sacks in 2022. After proper time to heal and rehab, Roff indicated it shouldn't be an issue, at least initially, this season.

"I feel good. I feel a lot better. At this point, this is probably one of the best I've felt. I think I had some pretty unlucky, bad timing injuries last year. So, can't think about the past. Looking forward to the future."

Roff also indicated that he's excited about the effort his team is showcasing in fall camp. However, the Cougars will clearly need more than effort and energy to improve on over 28 points allowed per game in 2023.

"I think our defense looks good. Everyone's playing super hard. The effort and energy is there. So just trying to take that and move forward...into this last week of fall camp and then into the season."
