The Washington State Cougars' offense will be led by either John Mateer or Zevi Eckhaus to start the season on Ausgust 31. Through the first few days of fall camp, many of the team's more veteran players have voiced support for both potential signal callers.

Redshirt junior Josh Meredith has been one of those leaders, citing the strengths of both QBs as valuable assets.

"John has a cannon on him. So if you're anywhere on the field, he will hit you. He can zip it on to you. Zevi has a great touch, which makes the ball seem easier to catch. It just floats and you just go get it. He likes to throw those 50/50 balls. He trusts us. They both have complements. They're both great guys. If I'm in with either one of them, I'm comfortable and they're comfortable with me. I love both of them."

As the Cougars look to move into a new era, they will have to rely on each other more than in previous years. Whether or not they go with the strength of Mateer or the touch/experience of Eckhaus, each player will have to fulfill their respective roles to the best of their ability..

"Both of them can really ball. So when you're out there, as long as you're doing your job, I know I've gotten to a point where I can trust them enough, I know they're going to do their job. I'll get open, they give me the ball, if I'm not open, they can still throw me the ball, I'm going to catch the ball. There's no favorites. It's like whoever's in, we're going to win. It doesn't matter."
