NFL squads were forced to shrink their rosters this week, at the expense of a few former Cougs fan favorites.

Former Washington State defensive end Ron Stone Jr. was waived with injury by the Las Vegas Raiders this week as the team made final decisions on their 53-man roster for the beginning of the new season. Stone was also not listed on the Raiders' practice squad that was released Wednesday.

Stone finished his Washington State career with 202 tackles, 31.5 tackles for loss, and 16 sacks, forcing five fumbles and recovering three. Stone deflected two passes and made three tackles in the preseason for the Raiders this summer.

Stone was one of two former Cougars on the Raiders' roster at the start of the week. Las Vegas' quarterback Gardner Minshew was recently named the team's starting quarterback.
