The United States Women's National Team continued their strong start to the 2024 Olympic tournament on Sunday with a 4-1 victory over Germany. Former Washington State Cougar signee, Trinity Rodman, assisted the American efforts, literally and figuratively, to bring the USWNT to a 2-0 record in France.

A Rodman pass found Portland Thorns' Sophia Smith in the box for the opening goal in the 11th minute of the game. The assist was Rodman's first in Olympic play. Mallory Swanson had her third goal of the tournament in the 26th minute, followed by another from Smith in the 44th minute and the final score from Lynn Williams in the 88th minute. Williams' goal was set in motion by a successful tackle by Rodman.

Rodman also made a stellar defensive play in the 61st minute to help clear a ball that came dangerously close to the United States' own goal. Rodman was subbed off in the second minute of extra time.

The United States' next matchup against Australia is scheduled for Wednesday, July 31 at 1 PM ET, 10 AM PT on USA Network and NBC Universo. Australia are 1-1 to start Olympic group play, and the United States only needs to draw to win their group before advancing to knockout play.
