Trinity Rodman Scores in USA's First Olympic Win Over Zambia
Former Washington State Cougar signee Trinity Rodman helped lead the United States to an opening win in group play at the 2024 Paris Olympics on Thursday, scoring her first Olympic goal in the process.
Team USA was ultimately victorious 3-0 over Zambia in Nice in the third match of Group B.
Rodman just missed a shot attempt in the eighth minute that went a touch high off the crossbar. However, the 22-year old broke through near the 17-minute mark, slipping a ball past the opposing goalkeeper with an assist from Lindsey Horan.

Rodman's goal opened things up for the Americans, followed by two goals from Mallory Swanson
Rodman was issued a yellow card for a reckless challenge against Kabange Mupopo in the 44th minute. She also missed an open header in the first minute of extra time at the end of the first half. She took another shot in the box a moment after that miss that sailed over the crossbar. Rodman also missed in the 55th and 59th minute before being subbed off in the 64th.
Rodman signed to play for Washington State in December of 2019 as the nation's top-ranked forward recruit. What would have been her freshman season was ultimately cancelled in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In January of 2021, Rodman chose to forego her college eligibility and enter the NWSL, where she was selected second-overall by the Washington Spirit. After contriuting to the USWNT's efforts in the 2023 World Cup, she was named to her first Olympic roster earlier this summer.
