UW Basketball Adds Another Player in Fresno State Swingman

Anthony Holland reunites with former teammate Braxton Meah.

With seven roster spots to fill, the University of Washington basketball team has settled on former Fresno State swingman Anthony Holland as one of its replacement parts.

On Friday, the 6-foot-5 grad transfer tweeted out that he is committed to the Huskies, reuniting him with former teammate Braxton Meah.

Holland's roster addition comes four days after the UW picked up its first portal transfer during this cycle in 6-foot-8 Moses Wood from Portland.

While neither player comes with huge credentials, the Huskies apparently are attempting to upgrade their perimeter shooting by settling on these two: Holland was a 38.7 percent marksmen behind the line this past season while Wood comes off a 40.7 percent effort for his WCC team.

Holland and the Huskies previously crossed paths this past season in the Wooden Classic, in a game won by the UW 62-57 in Anaheim, California, on the night before Thanksgiving. Holland had an 8-point, 9-rebound night, shooting 2 for 8 overall, and 2 for 6 on treys.

A Riverside, California, native who wasn't heavily recruited, Holland played in 113 games for Fresno State, starting 89, so he brings considerable experience. He comes off a season in which he posted modest numbers of 6.8 points per game and 4.3 rebounds an outing.

Scoring isn't necessarily his thing. For an 11-20 team, he finished in double figures just seven times all season, and only three times over his final 14 games. He had a high game of 18 points against San Jose State.

With Holland on board, that's two newcomers down, five to go.
