UW: The Good, The Bad & The Buggy

3 Random Thoughts Out of Corvallis

The Good

The Huskies showed a different look at times with their four-man defensive line, moving two guys in a stance way out wide on each side, yet pointed at a sharp angle. The middle was left wide open. Sort of like a punt rush. Looked new-age. It apparently worked: 7 tackles for loss, including 4 sacks. Husky coach Chris Petersen acknowledged they tried something different here.

The Bad

Starting inside linebacker Brandon Wellington was in street clothes for the second half against Oregon State, wearing a gray hoodie and black sweats. He was held out for possible concussion protocol. He seemed in good enough spirits in spite of his idle state, chatting up fellow LBs after they came off the field.

The Buggy

Almost as annoying as the USC fight song was Oregon State's taped chainsaw recording blasted repeatedly through the public-address system at Reser Stadium. Not sure how that inspires the fan base. Didn't see any fresh-cut tree limbs stacked up. How about the sound of a Beaver loudly clicking its gums?
