Ex-UW Corner Perryman Signs With BC Lions, Looking to Stay Healthy

The defensive back has had a string of injuries since coming to Montlake in 2022.

Jordan Perryman, a University of Washington starting cornerback in 2022 but often injured during his time in Montlake, signed as a free agent on Monday with the CFL's BC Lions.

A year ago, Perryman wasn't drafted, participated in training camp with the Las Vegas Raiders and was an injury-related release at the cutdown date in early September, forcing him to sit out the season.

The 6-foot, 202-pound defensive back showed considerable promise for Kalen DeBoer's first Husky team, yet he suffered a quadriceps muscle tear in the season opener against Kent State at Husky Stadium, dislocated a shoulder against Oregon in Eugene and broke his thumb in the Alamo Bowl against Texas in San Antonio.

"It was one of the hardest times of my life," Perryman said at the UW's Pro Day a year ago. "I came here to prove myself, was banged up for more than half the season and wasn't able to show what I could do. ...I got a lot of hate [messages] from fans."

A Hanford, California, product, Perryman played four seasons for UC Davis — twice named as a first-team All-Big Sky selection — before transferring to the UW after the program had first-team All-Pac-12 cornerbacks Trent McDuffie and Kyler Gordon enter the NFL draft early, bypass remaining eligibility and get drafted in the first two rounds.

As a replacement, Perryman started 10 games for the Huskies, sitting out outings against Portland State, Michigan State and Stanford nursing the quad injury and played hurt in a half-dozen others.

If he could go injury-free moving forward, Perryman might turn out to be a solid pro player. He ran a 4.39 40-yard dash at last year's Pro Day and, as his multiple injuries have shown, carries a certain amount of toughness.
