Former Husky DB Accepts Coaching Position at USC
Although Brendan "Bookie" Radley-Hiles spent only one year at Washington, he endeared himself to Husky fans during what ended up being a very dark time in program history. His energy and play style was infectious and clearly rubbed off on the other defensive backs.
Radley-Hiles declared for the NFL Draft following the 2021 season, and even though he was very productive at the college level, he went undrafted. Over his four years between Oklahoma and Washington, he totaled 161 tackles, 12 tackles for loss, and four interceptions.
Those numbers inspired the Cincinnati Bengals to give him a shot, as they signed him to an undrafted free-agent contract following the conclusion of the draft.
Unfortunately for him, the undersized defensive back was placed on waivers by the then-reigning AFC champions in August. He didn't catch on with another team or practice squad after that. Now, it appears Radley-Hiles has found the next step.
Originally from Inglewood, California, Radley-Hiles has opted to return to Southern California to take the first step in his coaching career at USC. He'll be joining Lincoln Riley's staff as a defensive analyst to start what could be a promising coaching career.
Radley-Hiles brings excellent communication skills to the table, as well as a very high football IQ. It was clear during his one year at Washington that he understood the defense at a high level, and that could come in handy for defensive coordinator Alex Grinch. He could end up having a long and successful coaching career.
