Former Husky TE Caden Jumper Will Join Murray State

After two seasons in Montlake, he'll play in the Ohio Valley Conference.

Caden Jumper, a casualty of the University of Washington football coaching change, has resurfaced with a new school, joining FCS Murray State.

On Sunday night, the former Husky tight end tweeted he was committed to the Ohio Valley Conference team located in Kentucky.

The 6-foot-3, 253-pound Jumper from Eatonville, Washington, which sits at the base of Mount Rainier, spent two seasons in Montlake and appeared in just one game — playing against Colorado last fall in Husky Stadium.

While there were pre-Christmas news reports Jumper would be entering the transfer portal, Kalen DeBoer's coaching staff let him accompany the team to the Alamo Bowl and practice with the Huskies, though he didn't suit up for the postseason game against Texas.

Jumper simply didn't fit the profile of the athletic tight end preferred by offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb. This had to be a disappointment for him after drawing raves from previous coach Jimmy Lake, who continually compared him to former UW standout Will Dissly, citing Jumper's toughness.

He'll join a Murray State team coached by fourth-year coach Dean Hood and coming off a 2-9 season. The Racers, in fact, have been in a continuous rebuild for the past decade, enjoying just a pair of winning records, both under Hood's leadership in 2020 (5-2) and 2021 (6-5), in all that time.
