Eighteen months ago, almost no one in Seattle knew who Ryan Grubb was or what he was capable of doing as a football coach.

When Kalen DeBoer disclosed he would be bringing his Fresno State offensive coordinator with him to the University of Washington, people had to look up this guy and study him on the internet.

The college football landscape is well versed in Grubb's abilities now, with Pro Football Focus on Tuesday ranking the Husky play-caller as the nation's No. 2 offensive coordinator, behind only Garrett Riley, Clemson's new OC.

Riley, the younger brother for USC's football coach, comes to the ACC after his national runner-up TCU team averaged 38.8 points and 455 yards per outing.

Grubb, of course, exceeded those numbers in his first season at Washington, with the Huskies averaging 39.7 points and 515.8 yards per game against a fairly competitive schedule that included Michigan State, Oregon, Oregon State and Texas.

In fact, the UW guru has offensive numbers unsurpassed by anyone on PFF's list.

The Husky OC finds himself ranked ahead of Utah's Andy Ludwig, Wisconsin's Phil Longo, LSU's Mike Denbrock, Oklahoma's Jeff Lebby, Baylor's Jeff Grimes, Wake Forest's Warren Ruggiero, Florida State's Alex Atkins and Alabama's Tommy Rees.

Fellow Pac-12 OC Ludwig guided the Utes to 38.6 points and 466.9 yards per game this past season.

Longo comes to the Big Ten from North Carolina, where he directed the Tar Heels to 36.1 points and 487.4 yards per contest last season.

LSU's Denbrock coached his offense to 34.5 points and 453.1 yards an outing.

At Oklahoma, Lebby coaxed 32.8 points and 474 yards a game out of the Sooners.

Baylor's Grimes was responsible for an offense that averaged 32.1 points and 413.8 yards each time out.

For Wake Forest, Ruggiero directed the Demon Deacons to 36.1 points and 442.4 yards a game.

Florida State's Atkins had numbers averaging 36 points and 484.2 yards per game.

And, finally, Rees joins Alabama after chalking up 31.8 points and 396.2 yards a game at Notre Dame.

Everyone knows who Grubb is and what his offense can do now.
