QB-Thin Huskies Lost 2025 Commit and Mack All in One Day
Quarterback Jackson Kollock was an early Class of 2025 commitment for the University of Washington football program whose scholarship pledge barely lasted it two weeks into the new year before it became collateral damage with the Husky coaching change.
Once UW coach Kalen DeBoer left for Alabama, this 6-foot-4, 215-pound prospect from Laguna Beach High School in Southern California on Sunday said he was no longer interested in the Huskies as the program fallout continues.
Kollock is a 3-star player who drew a Husky offer after a highly productive sophomore season in which he completed 66 percent of his pass attempts and compiled 2,202 yards passing with 32 touchdowns.
Offering his Husky commitment in late October, Kollock professed his admiration for what UW offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb could do for his game.
“My favorite thing about Grubb is he loves his players,” the quarterback said. “He’s going to love, develop you. He’s going to do his part in getting you to where you want to go and helping you achieve your goals. He’s not only a great coach, but he’s a great dude. It’s a special bond up there that I haven’t seen anywhere else.”
On Sunday, the Huskies not only lost Kollock's commitment, freshman phenom Austin Mack left the program and entered the transfer portal.
For Kollock, that connection no longer exits so he'll look elsewhere while the Huskies scramble to restock the quarterback position that's become extra thin, with just one scholarship player, newly signed Demaricus Davis, on the roster as new coach Jedd Fisch takes over.
