Ex-Husky Gaskin Baffles Everyone by Re-Signing with Dolphins
Following a coaching change, Myles Gaskin was a forgotten if not discarded running back for the Miami Dolphins in 2022, appearing in four games and drawing 10 carries — the lowest totals of his four-season NFL career.
Considering his inactivity, South Beach seemed like the last place Gaskin would choose as a pro football player moving forward.
However, the University of Washington's all-time leading rusher on Thursday re-signed a one-year deal with the Dolphins — a most surprising development that either the team or the running back would consider it.
When the month began, the Miami franchise had no signed running backs among the four players it previously had utilized.
Yet one by one, former Husky Salvon Ahmed re-upped with the Dolphins last Saturday, veterans Jeff Wilson and Raheem Mostert came to terms on Wednesday and Gaskin was the last to agree to rejoin his old team.
The 5-foot-10, 194-pound Gaskin was a 10-game starter in 2021, but once the team changed coaches to Mike McDaniel last season he was deemed an inactive player for more than three-fourths of the schedule.
The former Husky simply took it in stride and said nothing publicly about his fall from grace. Miami must like him for his professionalism.
Gaskin will enter the coming season having played in 38 games, and starting 13, for the Dolphins. He has career rushing totals of 361 carrie for 1,355 yards and 7 touchdowns, plus overall receiving numbers of 101 catches for 701 yards and 6 more scores.
