4-Star DL Dominic Kirks Commits to Washington

The Huskies land a big-time player from Ohio.
In this story:

Putting the cherry on top of what has been a huge recruiting week for Washington, the Huskies have secured a commitment from four-star edge rusher Dominic Kirks.

Kirks, a 6-foot-5, 250-pound player from Villa Angela-St. Joseph High School in Cleveland, Ohio, is ranked as the 392nd overall player in the country by the 247 Sports Composite. Now he becomes the second highest-ranked member of Washington's 2024 recruiting class after choosing the Huskies over Pitt, Kentucky, Wisconsin, and 15 other offers.

With his commitment, Kirks also becomes the first member of the Husky roster from Ohio since wide receiver Eddie Jackson in 2002. Washington has been attempting to establish more connections in the Midwest and expand its recruiting footprint and if Kirks can get on the field early and perform, others could follow in his footsteps.

The coaching staff has emphasized putting together a strong defensive line in this class and Kirks takes it from being a very solid group up front to possibly one of the best in the Pac-12. He has the ability to play both inside and outside at the next level but will do most of his damage on the edge.

His frame looks like it's physically ready for the college level and with the projection that both Bralen Trice and Zion Tupuola-Fetui will be off for the NFL Draft in 2024, he'll have an opportunity to get on the field early in his career.

This is a huge win for Kalen DeBoer and his staff. Kirks' commitment gives the Huskies four blue-chip recruits per the 247 Sports Composite and brings the class up to 40th in the country.

I've followed the Huskies for my entire life, and to be in a position where I get to cover them full-time is nothing short of an honor. After graduating from Lasell University in 2019, I moved to Seattle to pursue my dream of working in sports media. While writing for the Husky Haul, I also covered local sports for the Everett Daily Herald before the COVID-19 pandemic. After being hired by Realdawg.com in February of 2021, I also transitioned into doing a lot of entertainment writing, as I work on a variety of magazines as a contributing writer for Centennial Media, and have also contributed to Emmy Magazine, as well as Walt Disney Television Studios.
