Taking It to the House: A Moment with a Future Husky LB
It's Monday in southeast Los Angeles, but Khmori House of St. John Bosco High School still has his game face on, still looks ready to hit someone, after opening his senior season over the weekend.
He's a serious-minded linebacker who committed to the University of Washington in June, giving the Huskies their second player from that school — and that position — in two years, following former teammate Deven Bryant, now in Seattle.
While the UW football team doesn't get started for another week and a half, House and his Bosco teammates got their season rolling last weekend with a 42-22 victory over Nevada's Liberty High at home in Bellflower.
"We came in with the right mindset that we weren't going to take anyone lightly," House told Fan Nation at SI's Max Torres, who publishes Ducks Digest.
The 6-foot-1, 205-pound House finished with 3 tackles, including a pair of tackles for loss, at Bosco's spacious Panish Family Stadium.
He remains one of the prize commits of the Huskies' 2024 recruiting class after saying yes to Kalen DeBoer's staff over offers from Texas, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Auburn, Oregon and many others.
House appears extra firm on his commitment to come to Montlake next year.
"I feel like the coaching staff is a great fit for me," the Bosco linebacker said. "I feel like I fit in the best there. I feel like I was a priority for the coaching staff. I feel like I could go in there and play early and be a big impact for them. I know they're building something special there."
A year ago, the Huskies no doubt saw House play next to Bryant on a defense that helped turn St. John Bosco into a powerful 13-1 team and the CIF Open Division state champion.
He was drawn to the UW after watching DeBoer and his staff, which includes co-defensive coordinator and linebacker coach William Inge, similarly enjoy an 11-2 debut season.
"With the guys we get in this class and some of the guys we have in the 2023 class, I feel they're building something very good," House said. "With defensive coach Inge and the defense, I feel like they're building something very good and I'll go in and help it out."
Meantime, Bosco's high-profile and third-ranked football team is such a big deal House and his teammates will prepare this week to fly to Florida and face Fort Lauderdale's No. 9 St. Thomas Aquinas on Saturday night in the Broward County Showcase.
House is just preparing himself for those long Big Ten road trips.
