Sacramento RB Wayshawn Parker Receives Washington Offer
Washington seems to have some new targets in the class of 2024 at the running back position. After offering four-star Chicago-area back Darrion Dupree earlier in the week, the coaching staff extended an offer to Wayshawn Parker from Grant Union High School in Sacramento, California.
Parker holds offers from multiple schools at multiple positions. UNLV extended a scholarship to the 6-foot, 185-pound prospect as a wide receiver. Running-backs coach Lee Marks extended the UW offer, making it seem likely the Huskies want him to play running back.
The Huskies became the fourth school to offer Parker a scholarship and the first Power 5 school to do so. His three other reported offers came from UNLV, San Jose State and Sacramento State.
Parker is gearing up for his first year at Grant Union after playing his previous three seasons at Elk Grove High School. He was a running back and a defensive back, and returned kicks and punts for Elk Grove.
On film, Parker is a fluid athlete with great field vision. He lines up in multiple different spots, mainly in the slot or shaded behind the tight end in the formation. When playing running back, he often gets the ball on toss plays that intend to give him a full head of steam while running downhill.
He also has a fair amount of defensive snaps on his film, which show a fluid athlete with a high football IQ that would translate to the offensive side rather easily. Parker breaks on the ball well and has excellent closing speed in the secondary.
With a big senior season and a bigger role on offense, Parker could receive a massive ratings bump by recruiting experts and earn more attention and offers.
