Cofie, State's Top Hoop Recruit, Reportedly Narrows Choices to 4
Once the pandemic began to wane, Jacob Cofie's recruiting profile took off.
In June 2021, the 6-foot-9 power forward from Eastside Catholic High School in Sammamish, Washington, posted his college choices, which were decent but relatively modest by a top recruit's standards: Washington, WSU, Montana, UNLV and Colorado.
More than two years later, Cofie, a 4-star prospect in the Class of 2024, has put together an impressive portfolio of interested schools.
Over the weekend, he told On3.com that he has narrowed his college basketball choices to Ohio State, USC, Virginia and Washington.
Cofie, a 21-point scorer for a 20-10 team and considered Washington state's No. 1 recruit and the nation's No. 97 player, already has taken an official visit to the UW and will tour Virginia and Ohio State in the coming weeks, according to the website.
As for the Huskies, he told On3.com the following, “UW has been recruiting me since my freshman year of high school and Coach [Mike] Hopkins has believed in me for many years. They always show up for me. The entire Husky staff has been supportive of me. Showed several ways I can fit into their system and how I could stand out.”
Cofie told the website he intends to make his college selection at either the end of September or the beginning of October.
